Within the community, you'll find grocery shopping, banking and other necessary services – medical, dental, legal, all in River Park Village Shopping Centre. Just a few kilometres north is St. Vital Centre, a major shopping complex with over 160 stores and services, including The Bay, Sears, Wal-Mart, Safeway, Silver City Theatres, and Chapters Bookstore.

River Park South is also in close proximity to the University of Manitoba, Victoria General Hospital and several golf courses.

The drive from River Park South to downtown Winnipeg is about 20 minutes. The Perimeter Highway forms the southern boundary of the community and is easily accessible via St. Mary's or St. Anne's Road.

River Park South is well served by Winnipeg Transit. Buses run throughout the community, including on Aldgate Road.

Community Centre

The people of River Park South have organized one of the finest community centres in the city. The Dakota Community Centre offers a variety of team sports with lots of opportunity to participate. The facilities at the Centre will continue to grow with the community.

Dakota Community Centre

Centre facilities include the Jonathan Toews Sportsplex with twin indoor ice arenas with several multipurpose rooms.  Future plans include a 55,000 square foot multi-use field house.  As well, a wide range of senior programmes operate out of the community centre year round.  Qualico Communities and its participating builders have been long-time supporters of the Community Centre.  So far they have raised over $300,000 for the Centre.

Library

The Louis Riel Library is located on Dakota Street, just south of Nova Vista. This excellent facility is a gathering place for residents of all ages. It offers a diverse collection of books, magazines, audiobooks, e-books and DVDs. The Children's department also features French materials from the St. Boniface Library.
